Princess Park Wednesday Evening Training
March 7th 2018 6:30pm - 8:00pm
Organizers: Caoimhe Murray (Event Director), Brian Ellis (Controller), Joanne Woods (Membership), Jules Tough (Membership), Ben Smith (Coach), Stan Woods (Coach)
Map: Princess Park
Description
We'll be meeting at the parking lot for Princess Park on Princess Avenue to run this map. It's a mix of forest and urban so bring a headlamp for the dark spots!
It's currently quite snowy and icy across this map. I'm hoping it'll have cleared up in time for Wednesday but it's probably best to come prepared for snowy conditions.
Also note the washrooms are closed for the season.
Schedule
6:15pm Introduction to Orienteering for Beginners
6:30pm Starts
8pm Course Closure, participants must report to the Finish before leaving.
Courses
We've got two beginner courses (short and long) for those who are fairly new or want to stay mostly on trails.
The intermediate is a shorter course which explores more of the forest close to the start, while the expert takes in the full map which means a longer run for those who want to stretch their legs.
Safety Precautions
Always use good judgement and common sense. Carry a whistle at all times. Headlamps are essential to see and be seen. Take care when crossing roads and parking lots. Watch out for other runners, cyclists, and trail/sidewalk users.
Parking/Start Location:
We'll be starting at the parking lot for Princess Park off Wellington Drive and Princess Avenue (3500/3600 Princess Avenue / 700-800 Wellington). Gates close at dusk in the winter so it's probably best to take advantage of nearby street parking.
Post-Event Dining
