Gone, gone, gone... you've been gone so long

Map: Lynn Valley

As always, the Lynn Valley Adventure Run is on a huge map combining a number of the GVOC maps and covering terrain from Seymour Creek to the east, Rice Lake to the north, Lynn Valley Road on the west and down to Capilano on the south.

This year the event will be a mega-LONG point-to-point course based on an event that was held in Europe over the summer that offered a course with 100 control points! We don't have the controls, SI systems or legs to manage that level of intensity so we have courses with 50, 30 or 20 control points. The lengths of these courses are measured as straight line distances and you can expect to add about 30% to the length - so choose the appropriate course for you.

This event will give you lots of practise map reading, as the distance between controls is quite short. Consequently the chances of having to relocate (getting lost) are less than in previous years. Also the satisfaction of actually finding some control points should be higher!. You will still have the challenge of mental fatigue as the physical challenges of the North Shore have not changed!

There is a REVISED time limit of three hours (i.e. latest finish is 2:00pm) so we can get all the controls back before dark.

Where: Start and Finish will be next to the tennis courts on Westover Road in North Vancouver. See map below

Schedule: Registration: 9:30 - 10:00

Start: 10:00 - 11:00

Course Close and control pickup: 14:00 (REVISED)

Refreshments: Small snacks and water provided.

Safety: It is VERY important that even if you abandon your course you come back to the finish so that we know you have returned safely and do not send a search party out for you.

Rivers can only be crossed on bridges. Trails are to be used as required. These may be slippery if it rains.

Roads can only be crossed at marked intersections and sidewalks are to be used at all times if available. Please LOOK UP when crossing roads!!

Note: The beginners course can be shortened by leaving off the last few controls so please don't be intimidated by the distance. There are options :)
