Map: Queen's Park

Description

This week's WET will be at Queen's Park. Come out to enjoy the post "Fall Back" challenge of running in complete darkness! Sign up by 4pm on Tuesday to guarantee yourself a map.

Schedule

6:15 pm - Introduction to Orienteering for Beginners

6:30 pm - Starts begin for both courses

8:00 pm - Course Closure, participants must report to the Finish by Course Closure Time.

Courses:

Beginner (2.0 km): This course will stick close to the main trails, with a couple of opportunities for simple route choice along the way. Ideal for beginners and families.

Expert (3.6 km): This course is longer and more navigationally challenging. Many of the field and open forest areas of the map are missing significant amount of vegetation detail - in these areas, you will need to use attack points and pace-counting to find your way. It's a small park, but don't get complacent! :)

Safety Precautions:

Bring your headlamp and whistle. Please wear shoes with good traction if you have them; between the mud and rotting leaves, parts of this park are very slippery right now!

Parking/Start/Finish Locations:

We will meet in the gazebo in the middle of the park (please see map below for exact location). There is a large parking lot north of the gazebo as well as several spots to park along the street nearby.

Post-Event Dining

Union Jack Public House (525 Seventh St): cheap wings and desserts on special - we deserve it, right...?
