Byrne Creek Wednesday Evening Training
March 21st 2018 6:30pm - 8:00pm
Organizers: Linda Wu (Event Director), Daniel Widmann (Event Director), Joanne Woods (Organizer), Jules Tough (Membership)
Map: Byrne Creek
Description:
The Byrne Creek Map has been slightly updated for a wet-n-wild WET this week. There are two courses:
- Beginner - a 2.1km trek that takes you halfway down the ravine and back up again. There will be no required creek crossings.
- Expert - a 3.8km trek with optional creek crossing that could shorten the overall distance. The choice is yours!
Due to the forecasted rain, the creek crossings and the ravine will be slippery. Please exercise good judgement and extra care.
Schedule:
6:15pm Introduction to Orienteering for Beginners
6:30pm Starts
8pm Course Closure, participants must report to the Finish before leaving.
Safety Precautions:
Always use good judgement and common sense. Carry a whistle at all times. Headlamps are essential to see and be seen. Take care when crossing roads and parking lots. Watch out for other runners, cyclists, and trail/sidewalk users. Take extra care when crossing the creek, it will be wet and slippery. The terrain around the ravine can also be steep and slippery.
Parking/Start Location
We'll be starting at the Ron McLean Park. By the restrooms if it's raining, at a picnic table if it's not.
