Organizers: Adam Woods (Coach), Scott Muma (Event Director), Karen Lachance (Membership)

Map: Cypress Falls

Description

Cypress Falls is a small forested area mapped at 1:5000 with 2.5m countours.  The Fun course can be done as a partner exercise by running with one map between two people and exchanging at intervals to practice relocation (of course don't exchange right at a control to make it challenging).  Otherwise, the Fun course is suitable for beginners and can be done mostly on trails, while the Funner course will require navigating through the forest.  Combining them will be the Funnest (or at least the longest)!

Schedule

6:15 pm - Introduction to Orienteering for Beginners

6:30 pm - Starts begin for both courses

8:00 pm - Course Closure, participants must report to the Finish by Course Closure Time.

Courses:  Fun, Funner and Funnest

Safety Precautions: Whistles are mandatory.  It's still summer, but a headlamp might be a good idea, especially if you've started after 7PM since the whole course is in forest and sunset is just after 8PM.  Use caution near the canyon, especially if it's getting dark.

Parking/Start/Finish Locations:  Park in the lot north of the baseball field off the end of Woodgreen Place, start and finish are there too.

Post-Event Dining:TBD
