Map: Jericho Beach

It was another glorious Vancouver evening on the slopes above Jericho Park, and another great turn-out of both 'clubbies' and newbies. Both the legs and the neurons got a work-out, at least for those who attempted the extra Memory O loop. To distinguish in the Results between those who ran the Advanced Point-to-Point course, but not the Memory-O loop, from those who did both, we have used the designation NC. This usually means 'non-competitive' but for this event it is used simply as a way of distinguishing the two groups. Timing for individuals plus two mass starts got a little crazy for a while, so please let us know if you find any errors.

After All Was Said and Done: Many thanks to our volunteer helpers - Karen, Adam, and Joanne; to Alison for organizing the post-WET dinner at Athenes, which attracted >30 hungry orienteers, and to Gilles and Catherine for helping retrieve the pin flags.

Remember to register for the COC2014 events at Whistler (August 1 - 5) and the WCOC2014 events at Kamloops (August 8 - 10) - more fine orienteering on some marvelous new maps! See for details.

The Advanced course will be point-to-point with forking plus an optional section of Memory O to add a little more challenge. Mass start for the Advanced course at 6:45. Beginner/Intermediate course will be a standard point-to-point course. Sign up by Tuesday to get a map.

6:30 Introduction to Orienteering for Beginners

6:30 Starts begin for both courses

6:45 Optional mass start for Advanced runners.

8:15 Course Closure, participants must report to the Finish by Course Closure Time.

Two courses will be offered, one of which is Shorter/Easier depending on terrain, and is appropriate for families.

The other course is Longer/Harder depending on terrain.

Safety Precautions: The long course will cross 4th Avenue two times. Please be cautious when crossing this 4-lane divided street.

Parking/Start/Finish Locations:

Park at the eastern-most parking lot South of 4th Avenue and West of Highbury. See the map below for location.

Post-Event Dining:

We're going to head for GREEK FOOD after the race. You're more than welcome to join us. Please sign up for the "dinner" option if you'd like to join us so we can make the reservation! OPA!

Without volunteers, these events cannot take place. A hearty thanks to all those helping put this event on. If you would like to volunteer/help at upcoming WETs/WJRs or would like to organize a WET please let us know.
