Description
Another chance for Wednesday evening forest orienteering before it gets really dark! And a good warm-up for Sunday's WJR at Rice Lake. We will have usual point-to-point Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced courses in the beautiful Cypress Falls Park. Headlamp strongly recommended even if you start before it's dark -- that's changing fast these days!
Schedule
6:15pm Introduction to Orienteering for Beginners
6:30pm Starts
8pm Course Closure, participants must report to the Finish before leaving.
Courses
Beginner -- for all who are new to orienteering. All controls at the trail, with a nice tour through parts of the park.
Intermediate -- most controls not too far away from trails
Advanced -- for experienced orienteerers, expect a bit of bushwacking if you aim for the shortest routes.
Safety Precautions
Always use good judgement and common sense. Carry a whistle at all times. Headlamps are essential to see and be seen. Take care when crossing roads and parking lots. Watch out for other runners, cyclists, and trail/sidewalk users.
Parking/Start Location
Meet in the Cypress Falls Park parking lot. Parking spots might not be enough, find parking along Woodgreen Dr in that case.
Post-Event Dining
TBD
