Description for this WET
Description
This week's WET takes place at Queen's Park in New Westminster. There are two courses available, the shorter one being 2.2 km, and the longer 4.2 km. Some sections will be muddy and slippery and it looks like we might finally get rained on, so bring appropriate clothing/footwear and possibly something to change into afterwards.
Schedule
6:30 pm - Introduction to Orienteering for Beginners
6:30 pm - Starts begin
8:00 pm - Course Closure, participants must report to the Finish by Course Closure Time.
Courses:
Two courses will be offered, one of which is Easier/Shorter depending on terrain and suitable for beginners/families. The other of which is Longer/Harder depending on terrain.
Safety Precautions:
It will be dark out, so make sure you don't forget your headlamp! The park contains a few parking lots and roads, make sure you look both ways before crossing. There may also be soccer/baseball games playing while we're there, please don't run through them.
Parking/Start/Finish Locations:
Start/Finish location is at a gazebo on the west side of the park (see map). There is plenty of parking available both inside the park and on the nearby streets. The recommended place would be the the lot via the main gate at First/Third Street.
Post-Event Dining:
To be decided night of.
Acknowledgements:
