Queen's Park WET Wednesday Evening Training
January 21st 2026 6:00pm - 8:00pm
Organizer: John Rance (Event Director)
Map: Queen's Park
The December event was submerged beneath the atmospheric river and only a few folks got to enjoy the updated map. It has got to be drier this time! The courses are completely revised with fewer controls and longer legs.
There will be 2 courses.
Long course is 4.7 km in length, has 18 controls and 80 m of climb.
Short course is 3.0 km in length, has 12 controls and 40 m of climb and avoids hill on north side of McBride Avenue
Dinner afterwards at North Noodle House upstairs in New Westminster Skytrain Station. Meet at the arena where there are toilets, a warm place to change, and a concession.
Wednesday Evening Training
- What should I bring? Wear something comfortable that you don't mind getting a little dirty! If it's wet outside, you might want to consider a change of shoes and socks! A headlamp or flashlight and reflective clothing is critical in the winter months (late September to April). A compass is optional (we have extra ones for borrowing). For added safety, a whistle is mandatory for all GVOC events. Read more in the WET Introduction to Orienteering.
When should I sign up? Please sign up by Tuesday night so that we can print enough maps, although we have extra maps if you forget.
How much does it cost? All WETs are free with yearly membership.
Club membership: See details on the club home page. Please complete before your first event!
