Organizers: Rachel Howard (Event Director), Denis Anisimov (Assistant)

Map: Jericho Beach

We're setting up a series of Scatter-O events! With scatter courses you need to visit all of the controls in any order as fast as you can. Compared to Score-O all the controls cost the same and there is no time limit (apart from course closure time). It is a series of 3 events, so you can practice, try different route planning techniques and see how you improve from event to event.

This event will include three different options for the Scatter-O: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced.

  • Beginner - short course with fewer controls. Some on trails.
  • Intermediate - more controls all over the map
  • Advanced - the most controls and farther distance on the map

The start location is at the grassy area at the end of Discovery Street (near Jericho Sailing club). Lots of parking lots in the area or street parking along Marine Drive. Maps will be available from 6pm onwards. Please sign up in advance so I know how many to print!

Registration for this event will be done through the new membership registration system (Interpodia / 2mev.com). Follow the course registration link to sign up for the event. If you face any issues or have feedback please let the team know at gvoc.membership@gmail.com

ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT each and every family member who will be attending the orienteering event must fill in a Declaration of Health form. You can find the online form here.

Wednesday Evening Training

ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT each and every family member who will be attending the orienteering event must fill in a Declaration of Health form. Go to here.

What should I bring? Wear something comfortable that you don't mind getting a little dirty! If it's wet outside, you might want to consider a change of shoes and socks! A headlamp or flashlight and reflective clothing is critical in the winter months (late September to April). A compass is optional (we have extra ones for borrowing). For added safety, a whistle is mandatory for all GVOC events. Read more in the WET Introduction to Orienteering.

When should I sign up? Please sign up by Tuesday night so that we can print enough maps, although we have extra maps if you forget.

How much does it cost? All WETs are free with yearly membership (adult newcomer: $10 / adult renewal: $20 / under 20: $10 / family maximum: $40). We now accept credit and debit cards (preferred). Contact membership team for other payment options.

2022 online waiver and membership form - currently under construction so send us feedback if you have issues

Please complete before your first event!
