Ambleside Park Wednesday Evening Training
November 20th 2019 6:30pm - 8:00pm
Organizers: Kate Karamycheva (Event Director), Robyn Rennie (Controller), Joanne Woods (Membership)
Map: Ambleside Park
Description
Join us for an evening of orienteering in beautiful Ambleside Park in West Vancouver. As it gets dark early, the courses will be on the easier side, so practice your sprint skills! The area itself is beautiful as it is right on the beach.
The forecast is sunny and dry! Bring some layers as it may get cold though.
There are two courses: shorter and longer. The shorter course is 2km and is suitable for beginners. The longer course is 4km and is a good fit for intermediate runners (and it'll be a quick sprint for the advanced folks).
Schedule
6:15pm Introduction to Orienteering for Beginners
6:30pm Starts
8:00pm Course Closure, participants must report to the Finish before leaving.

Safety Precautions
Always use good judgement and common sense. Carry a whistle at all times. Headlamps are essential to see and be seen. Take care when crossing roads and parking lots. Watch out for other runners, cyclists, and trail/sidewalk users.
Note: please cross the railway line at valid crossing points only. They are clearly marked on the map. Also please look out for trains and vehicles at all times.
Parking/Start Location:
We'll meet at the covered picnic area in John Lawson Park, just south-east of 16th Street and Argyle Avenue. See map below.
There is free parking lot directly north from the start, and free street parking all around. The park is also easily accessible by transit off Marine Drive just a block away.
Post-Event Dining
TBD, lots of options in Ambleside.
