Description
This week's WET takes place at Capilano University in North Vancouver. Two courses are on offer to satisfy beginners and more advanced orienteers alike. We will meet at the entrance to the Birch building where there is a bit of shelter from the elements in case of rain.
Both courses avoid the large construction area going on down by the highway but please do take note of and heed the out-of-bounds areas in the southeast corner of your map; it's more enjoyable that way.
Please exercise caution when crossing Lilloet rd. as it is wide, it can get busy and the cars may be moving quite fast.
Schedule
6:15pm Introduction to Orienteering for Beginners
6:30pm Starts
8:00 pm Course Closure, participants must report to the Finish before leaving.
Courses
The long course blends shorter legs through the dense campus environment with longer legs through open areas and wooded parks.
The short course will take you on a fun exploration of the campus and take advantage of the various paths and trails to get around.
Safety Precautions
Always use good judgement and common sense. Carry a whistle at all times. Headlamps are essential to see and be seen. Take care when crossing roads and parking lots. Watch out for other runners, cyclists, and trail/sidewalk users.
Parking/Start Location:
Pay parking is available on the Capilano University campus. Free parking is available along Lillooet road and by the sports fields to the west thereof but it's a bit further to walk to the start.
