Description

While some of us may be in Quebec for Nationals, for everyone else, come on out to beautiful Queen's Park for this week's WET!

The Beginner course is intended for those newer to orienteering and will stay fully within the park, mostly following the paths and showing off some of the features of the park. Also good for kids given the relative lack of road crossings.

The Advanced course will spice things up a bit with some butterfly loops, and I can start runners in pairs to run it head-to-head. You'll veer off and do your own loops, then come back together for a couple controls and then split off again. Should be good fun.

Bring a picnic if you like and visit the petting zoo or splash park.

Schedule

6:15pm Introduction to Orienteering for Beginners

6:30pm Starts

8:00 pm Course Closure, participants must report to the Finish before leaving.

Map Changes

The center of the park has a couple changes: a fenced area became the new skate park, and the Arenex collapsed a couple years ago. Nothing crazy though.

Safety Precautions

Always use good judgement and common sense. Carry a whistle at all times. Headlamps are essential to see and be seen. Take care when crossing roads and parking lots. Watch out for other runners, cyclists, and trail/sidewalk users.

Parking/Start Location:

In front of the arena in the center of the park. Parking is available right at the start.
