This is a rerun of a sprint training exercise that was put on for Sprint Camp XIV a number of years ago. It is still challenging, even more so because some of the vegetation on the map has changed but using your imagination should make it possible to find the controls.

Use Skeena Rd off Lillooet Road to access parking. All parking on campus is pay parking. $5 for the evening.

Map 1 - practising route choice. There are a number of purple DO NOT CROSS lines on the map to make the most obvious route out of bounds. There is nothing marked on the ground so be careful

Map 2 - practising high speed direction control and flow. Practise getting the direction leaving a control correct so that you are heading directly to the next control. Ignore Control#3 - I couldn't find the path or the rocks

Map 3 - Route choice against first instinct. Continuing from Map 1 - check where you are going before you set off. Obey the DO NOT CROSS markings. Read the multi level mapping symbols correctly.

All three courses are on the same map - 4 km in total.

Wednesday Evening Training

  • What should I bring? Wear something comfortable that you don't mind getting a little dirty! If it's wet outside, you might want to consider a change of shoes and socks! A headlamp or flashlight and reflective clothing is critical in the winter months (late September to April). A compass is optional (we have extra ones for borrowing). For added safety, a whistle is mandatory for all GVOC events. Read more in the WET Introduction to Orienteering.

When should I sign up? Please sign up by Tuesday night so that we can print enough maps, although we have extra maps if you forget.

How much does it cost? All WETs are free with yearly membership.

Club membership: See details on the club home page. Please complete before your first event!
