Organizers: Joanne Woods (Event Director), Stan Woods (Coach)

Como Lake map is a new map which was made for the 2 person relay at Sprint Camp 2026. It is approximately a 1 km loop around the lake.

Where to meet- use the parking lot at the south end of the lake.

This WET will feature 5 loops, each focusing on a particular orienteering skill!

1. The first half of the map will focus on route choice and the second half of the map will have the vegetation and most features removed from the map to focus on compass bearings. How accurate are your compass bearings? You may want to practice your pace counting on the first half of the map, to help you with the compass bearing practice on the second half of the map.

2. Focus on keeping the map oriented to north while doing rapid change of directions. Do you use the karate chop method?

3. Memory O. At the start, memorize the controls 1-3, and then run to control #3, where you will find the next map to memorize the next set of controls. You are not running with a map in your hand.

4. The control circle will be have the feature inside the control circle, but will not be centered on the feature as is usually is. You will need to read your control description in order to know which feature to run to.

5. Line -O. Follow the line on the map and look for controls as you walk along the line. At the end of the loop tell the event director how many pin flags you passed and where you saw them.

Do as many loops as you want to do. If you have a control description holder, bring it as separate control descriptions will be available.

POST EVENT DINNING - Potluck dinner at the Woods house. Stan will BBQ hamburgers & veggie burgers. Please come join us for a social visit after the orienteering.
