Skeena Terrace WET Wednesday Evening Training
February 4th 2026 6:30pm - 8:00pm
Organizers: Alton Ho (Event Director), Joanne Woods (Organizer), Hanna Honegger (Organizer), Robyn Astridge (Course Planner)
Map: Skeena Terrace
Come join us for one of the last times we get to use this map in its original condition! Skeena Terrace provides a very small, but technically challenging area for orienteering with many narrow passages and staircases. As public housing, the area is a stark contrast to the orienteering areas we usually encounter around the rest of Vancouver (single-family homes), and is great fun to run around!
We will meet at the fields behind Thunderbird Community Centre, beginners are encouraged to arrive early to receive instructions and coaching.
Course options:
- Beginner/Intermediate: around 2km running distance
- Advanced: 4 sets of intervals, around 1km long each
Post-WET dinner will be at Bin 4 Burger Lounge on Boundary: https://maps.app.goo.gl/R1zCRam7V8ke5spb6
Wednesday Evening Training
- What should I bring? Wear something comfortable that you don't mind getting a little dirty! If it's wet outside, you might want to consider a change of shoes and socks! A headlamp or flashlight and reflective clothing is critical in the winter months (late September to April). A compass is optional (we have extra ones for borrowing). For added safety, a whistle is mandatory for all GVOC events. Read more in the WET Introduction to Orienteering.
When should I sign up? Please sign up by Tuesday night so that we can print enough maps, although we have extra maps if you forget.
How much does it cost? All WETs are free with yearly membership.
Club membership: See details on the club home page. Please complete before your first event!
