Enjoy 2 days on world-class terrain that hasn't been used for over 25 years in the Merritt area on the Pothole map! You may recall this map was the site of the 1998 North American Orienteering Championships. For your reading pleasure, here is the link to the results: https://orienteeringbc.ca/sage/Results/1998/1998naoc.htm. You may recognise many, many names :)

Event Information

We are holding a 2-Day barebones-style event on the Pothole map, which despite being more than 2 decades out of date is in remarkably good condition.

We are hosting a Long on the Saturday and a Middle on the Sunday.

Each day costs $20 per person, regardless of age. You have the option of signing up for only Saturday, only Sunday, or for both. We of course hope to see you for both

We have booked group camping at the nearby Kentucky-Alleyne Provincial Park (https://bcparks.ca/kentucky-alleyne-park/). We have a maximum of 70 people, so it’s first-come-first-serve. The cost is $20 per person, and includes both Friday and Saturday nights. Other accommodation options include staying at Lundbom Lake Recreation site and booking a hotel in Merritt.

More logistical information will be sent out to participants towards mid-August after we finish finalising details.

When registering, please be mindful of course distance and climb. This area is extremely physical. The event is not intended for beginners. Those looking to try orienteering should join their local club and attend training events. We have Intermediate, Expert, and Elite courses planned. The Elite courses are very demanding and we will not be providing water, so we encourage all participants to bring their own water on course.
