Map: Trout Lake

Come out to Trout Lake for this weeks WET! The Trout Lake map is a mix of wide-open urban park, giving an excellent opportunity for practicing taking bearings and travelling along those bearings.

Register by clicking on the registration button on this page. The registration is handled by a third-party system 2mev and it will ask you to create an account if you don't already have one. You'll be also able to become a member pay your membership fees during the registration process.

Courses

All courses are beginner friendly, and participants have the option to do 1, 2, or 3 loops, each being roughly 2 km in length, so the only difference between the options is distance.

6:00 pm Starts and Introduction to Orienteering for Beginners.

8:00 pm Course Closure, participants must report to the Finish before leaving.

Safety Precautions

Always use good judgement and common sense. Carry a whistle at all times. Take care when crossing roads and parking lots. Watch out for other runners, cyclists, and trail/sidewalk users.

Start Location/Parking/Transit:

Start will be at or near the shelter near the southeast parking lot in the park (near the concession stand).

Parking is available in the SE parking lot off of E 19th and the E parking lot off of E 17th and there's also street parking available along E 19th.

Buses run up Victoria and Commercial, and Skytrain stops at Commercial/Nanaimo are approximately 1-1,5 km from the start (Nanaimo being slightly closer at around 800-900 m).
