Map: UBC

Update - Robyn Astridge will be replacing Vili as Event Director.

Come out to UBC for a fun Wednesday Evening Training Event. There will be 3 point to point courses (all measured as the crow flies);

- beginner (1.6 km, 11 controls), mainly following roads with very easy orienteering tasks: good introduction to first-timers
- intermediate (2.1 km, 15 controls), primarily simple route choices with few more technical elements: good for training pace-keeping
- advanced (3.3 km, 26 controls), as technical and physical as it can possibly get in this map: good for challenging yourself to the maximum

Post-run speculation of the courses

The map is very detailed with limited visibility around the twisting and turning legs, so it's easy to miss a turn when running full speed. For best results, try to think forward and plan your next route choices while running the previous leg. There are inevitably some easier parts during which you can read the course onwards.

Please register by Tuesday evening so we know how many maps to print.

Remember to bring a headlamp and a whistle. It is dark in the evenings now. Please also respect the forbidden areas (mostly plantations) and be mindful of other people moving around on the campus.

There is some possibly free parking available along NW Marine Drive, and paid parking right next to the meeting point. Public transit/biking is also a viable option.

If you are new to orienteering and need some instruction - please show up at 6:00.

See who's coming.
