Christmas Light Tour Weekly Virtual Training
December 19th 2020 10:00am - December 26th 2020 12:00am
Organizers: Dawn Mooney (Event Director), Robyn Rennie (Controller)
For this week we have a Christmas Lights Tour in Kitsilano. The map is not an orienteering map, so as a little holiday gift you get some street names and landmarks. The map has 12 controls and each has a question to answer to ensure you have located the correct lights display.
You can visit the controls in any order and start anywhere. The full running/walking distance is about 6 km, but you can easily skip a few controls to shorten it. I suggest starting at McBride Park at 4th and Waterloo as there is free street parking and washrooms.
Because our insurance policy requires that everyone who participates in a GVOC event is a member of the club, please email gvoc.membership@gmail.com for a copy of the event map. Please submit selfies, answers and any feedback to gvoc.membership@gmail.com when you have completed the course.
Remember that these events are to be run/walked individually obeying all the social distancing recommendations currently in place. However, for your personal safety please let somebody know where you are and what you are doing. These are not sanctioned events; we don't retain any liability for participants. This is a do it at your own risk, training suggestion. Please cross 4th, Broadway, 10th/12th, and Macdonald St carefully. You are never more than a block away from a pedestrian-controlled light. You won't need a headlamp to find the controls, but having a light on you is good for safety. And remember to wait til after dark to do the course!
Note: no MapRunF or pin flags this week.
