Description
Schedule
6:15pm Introduction to Orienteering for Beginners
6:30pm Starts
8pm Course Closure, participants must report to the Finish before leaving.
Courses
Three courses will be available, ranging from family friendly 2 km to 3.5 km of somewhat technically challenging, to 5.8 km of both running distance and control picking within two boxes.
Shorts will be entirely suitable if you are careful around the blackberries. No bathing suit will be required as tide level is relatively low. Campsites have been avoided. You will see the active transportation systems of Vancouver as planes depart and approach YVR, tugs tow barges up and down the Fraser, as all the while blue herons and beavers ply the marshes of the Fraser.
Safety Precautions
Always use good judgement and common sense. Carry a whistle at all times. Headlamps are essential to see and be seen. Take care when crossing roads and parking lots. Watch out for other runners, cyclists, and trail/sidewalk users.
Parking/Start Location:
Parking lot at Angus Drive and West 75th Avenue is ideal. We will meet close to the river at the picnic tables.
Post-Event Dining
MillTown Bar and Grill recommended. It's located on the map, east end, on the river.
