Organizers: Chris Benn (Event Director), Jules Tough (Membership), Hilary Anderson (Coach)
Map: UBC
Description
Like last week this week's event will be practice for the forthcoming Sprint Camp (less than 3 weeks to go).
Schedule
6:15pm Introduction to Orienteering for Beginners
6:30pm Starts
8pm Course Closure, participants must report to the Finish before leaving.
Courses
There will be a short loop A of about 1.8 kms followed by a loop B of 2.8 kms. This should resemble the last day of Sprint Camp when you will be running a semi-final and final events very close to each other. There is a Beginners course and loop A would also be suitable for newcomers.
Safety Precautions
Courses cross NW Marine Drive so please be careful
Always use good judgement and common sense. Carry a whistle at all times. Headlamps are essential to see and be seen. Take care when crossing roads and parking lots. Watch out for other runners, cyclists, and trail/sidewalk users.
Parking/Start Location:
Meet at the entrance to the Rose Garden parking lot. This is undercover so it will be sheltered if it is raining. Paid parking is also available and you might find cheaper parking on nearby streets (e.g Cecil Green Way). There are also bus stops nearby.
Post-Event Dining
TBD
