Map: Cleveland Dam
Note on Timing for Expert Course:
Due to trail closures there were some optional controls on the expert course which may have involved leaving the map. As such not everyone ran the same controls but this is not reflected in the times.
We'll be taking advantage of the long evenings to check out some scenic forest orineteering around cleveland dam, with a variety of courses to suit different abilities.
Please register by Tuesday evening to ensure that we have enough maps printed for the event.
6:15pm Introduction to Orienteering for Beginners
8pm Course Closure, participants must report to the Finish before leaving.
There'll be three courses on offer this week,
A 1.9km beginner course for those newer to orienteering
A 3km intermediate course for those who'd like more route choice options and off trail controls
A 4km expert course with longer legs, more route choice and harder controls. This course will involve a fair bit of climbing given the terrain in this area.... and your route choices!
Always use good judgement and common sense. Carry a whistle at all times. Headlamps are essential to see and be seen. Take care when crossing roads and parking lots. Watch out for other runners, cyclists, and trail/sidewalk users.
The start and finish will be at the small building at the parking lot for Cleveland Dam
Without volunteers, these events cannot take place. A hearty thanks to all those helping put this event on. If you would like to volunteer/help at upcoming WETs/WJRs or would like to organize a WET please let us know.
