BCIT Wednesday Evening Training
December 7th 2016 6:30pm - 8:00pm
Organizers: Erica Lay (Event Director), Joanne Woods (Membership), Jules Tough (Membership)
Map: BCIT
Description
Thank you to all the brave/crazy souls who came out on Wednesday for a chilly run!
If you didn't make it out but would like to do an "armchair orienteering" exercise and experience the snowy glory that was the WET this week, I can send you a copy of the map and set of photos of the control sites (no controls placed) as a matching exercise. I will make no claims on how good the photos are in terms of accuracy and thought put into providing enough clues in the photo as to where the sites are-it was mid-storm when I was taking them and I was getting cold!
Schedule
6:15pm Introduction to Orienteering for Beginners
6:30pm Starts
8pm Course Closure, participants must report to the Finish before leaving.
Course
Safety Precautions
Carry a whistle at all times. Headlamps are essential on the longer course. Take care when crossing roads and parking lots.
It looks like the temperature has dropped here in Vancouver, so you may want to think about bringing some light running gloves to keep your hands warm this week in addition to your headlamp.
Parking/Start/Finish Locations
The Start/Finish location will be right near the entrance to BCIT SW 1 main building under the overhang. This is located near the junction of Goard Way and White Ave.
There is pay-by-stall parking throughout the campus (including in Employee Lots after 4:30pm). There is also some on-street parking (2 hours max) around the campus.
