July 20th 2016 6:30pm - 8:00pm
Organizers: Jonah Haliburton (Event Director), Don Haliburton (Assistant), Adam Woods (Coach)
Map: Capilano University
Description
This week’s event is on the Capilano / Lower Seymour map (1:5000) and is set in the intricate web of buildings, houses, forests and hills on and around Capilano University. It really is an interesting and attractive location! Something for everyone (and a little extra for some)!
Schedule
6:15pm Introduction to Orienteering for Beginners
6:30pm Starts
8pm Course Closure, participants must report to the Finish before leaving.
Courses
These week will feature Three courses; A Longish 3km course on trails, Two different sprints through the university, And one beginner course.
For those more experienced I would recommend the long and sprint courses. If you plan on doing the sprints... Sprinting, you might want to join the competitive classes (hehemm... Adam). Keep in mind they are the same courses. You can always mix and match courses!
Safety Precautions
Carry a whistle at all times.
Parking/Start/Finish Locations
Parking is a bit of a challenge - there is free parking on the west side of Lillooet Road across from the start (although there is no crosswalk so you take your life in your hands) or the university pay parking is off Greg Lee Way and a short trail back to the start.
LATE BREAKING NEWS - it appears that there will be construction on Lillooet Road near the start so you may need to park further up the road or on Purcell Way (or in the pay lot off of Greg Lee Way).
Post-Event dining
TBD. Open to suggestions.
