Courses
Minoru Park has undergone considerable changes since last use of map for Sprint Camp February 2015. This event will use an updated map and will test advanced orienteers ability to read control descriptions and navigate to the actual location of the control pin flag.
For example, a control circle placed on the middle of a hill will only suggest that the control is near the hill. Reading of the control description will determine if the control is at the northern foot, top or some other location on the hill. Similarly a control circle on a fence requires one to read the description to determine which corner of the fence and whether control is on the outside or inside of the feature. Headlamp or flashlight required.
Safety Precautions
Take extra care when crossing roads. Please carry a GVOC whistle. We sell them at every event for $1 - what a bargain!
Parking/Start/Finish Locations
Tennis Club parking (washroom accessible) at south west corner of park. Parking lot accessible off Gilbert Avenue.
Jan 29, 2016: One of our wettest WET's with a 'pineapple express' rain storm peaking at 8:00 PM. Kudos to all who ran. Everyone successfully completed.
