BCIT Wednesday Evening Training
October 7th 2015 6:30pm - 8:00pm
Organizers: George Pugh (Event Director), Kevin Pugh (Host)
Map: BCIT
Description : Our first Fall rainy WET! Slightly shorter courses and avoiding dark trails and using intricate courses about the BCIT buildings gave some good challenges for all. My thanks to all that came out and enjoyed the courses! Timing with Club computer using Sportident and MEOS was not entirely successful. A work in progress...
Bring your SI memory sticks as we will be timing electronically this WET.
This event will feature mass start at 18:45. In an effort to replicate the excitement of the Canadian Orienteering Champs this summer, there will be two loops and serious forking. If you follow another runner, you will certainly find yourself heading for the wrong control. We hope to develop some experience in having results in a timely fashion with the use of SI timing system.
No fording of Guichon Creek will be required...courses have been shortened slightly due to anticipated rain.
Start location will be east of the Student Athletic Building (SE-16) and west of Ford Avenue (stub road into parking lot).
Schedule
6:15 pm - Introduction to Orienteering for Beginners
6:30 pm - Starts begin for beginner course
6:45 PM: Mass start for the two loop longer course.
8:00 pm - Course Closure, participants must report to the Finish by Course Closure Time.
