Map: Deer Lake North

Description

This week's WET will feature a short course (2.4 km) and a long course (4.1 km) course around Deer Lake Park. Those registered for the "elite" course (6.5 km), will get to run both courses, with a map exchange in between.

Schedule

6:15 pm - Introduction to Orienteering for Beginners.

6:30 pm - Starts begin for both courses.

8:00 pm - Course Closure - participants must report to the Finish by Course Closure Time.

Courses:

Two courses will be offered. The short course is more technically interesting (2.4 km). The long course does a scenic tour around Deer Lake (4.1 km).  If you register for elite you will do both courses with a break and map exchange in between.

Safety Precautions:

Bring a whistle! For safety reasons, all participants must use the pedestrian overpass at Burnaby City Hall to cross Canada Way. (This is noted on the short course map.)

Parking/Start/Finish Locations:

We will meet at the covered area near the southeast corner of the Shadbolt Centre. Parking is available in the lot just north of the Shadbolt Centre, at the intersection of Deer Lake Avenue and Century Park Way.

Post-Event Dining:

The final course of the evening will be held at Chettinad Dosa Palace (5081 Canada Way Burnaby, BC V5E 3N1), just east of Sperling Ave. on Canada Way. Please RSVP by registering for the 'Dosa Course' so we can confirm our numbers on the reservation (8pm).

Acknowledgements:
