Description

Hi Everyone! This week's WET is happening at Capilano University. The courses (long/short) will be in the point-to-point format. The terrain is mostly urban with a bit of trail navigation and going through parks. A portion of the course goes through and around some housing complexes, please be respectful to the residents. Bushwacking shouldn't be required at any point, but is available for the masochistic.

Schedule

6:15 pm - Introduction to Orienteering for Beginners

6:30 pm - Starts begin for both courses

8:00 pm - Course Closure, participants must report to the Finish by Course Closure Time.

Courses:

Two courses will be offered in the point-to-point format. The "Short" course is 2.4 km in length and goes through some housing complexes and the CapU campus. The "Long" course is 4.2 km in length, and in addition to the former, includes some of the surrounding parks/fields/schools.

Safety Precautions:

I tried to minimize major road crossings, but there are still a few places where it is required. Please use common sense and care when doing so. There may be motorcycle training happening in 1 or more of the parking lots. If so, please go safely around the edges of the lot. Lastly, please respect the neighbourhood by not running through gardens, soccer games, etc.

Parking/Start/Finish Locations:

Start will at the "Jaycee House" that we sometimes start WJRs at. Since we don't have the house rented out, I'm not sure if we're allowed to park in that lot. There is however plenty of free parking on the roadside nearby on Lillooet Rd and on the south side of Inter River Park Rd.

Post-Event Dining:

TBD
