Capilano River Wednesday Evening Training
April 8th 2015 6:30pm - 8:00pm
Organizers: Ian Saari (Event Director), Karen Lachance (Membership)
Map: Capilano River
Description
Join us this Wednesday for some great forest orienteering in Capilano River Park. This week the advanced event will honour that famous classic of two years ago by following a Goat O format. This means male runners can skip any one control and female runners any two non-consecutive controls. All runners will mass start at 6:40. The trick is to hang on to the pack as long as possible and try to get out ahead by cunningly choosing which control to skip.
Schedule
6:15 pm - Introduction to Orienteering for Beginners
6:30 pm - Starts begin for beginner course
6:40 pm - Mass start for the advanced Goat O course
8:00 pm - Course Closure, participants must report to the Finish by Course Closure Time.
Courses:
Beginner Course - shorter course with easier route choice and less off-trail running.
Advanced Goat O Course - longer course with varied route choice, leg coverings suggested. (Males skip one control, females skip two non-consecutive controls)
Parking/Start/Finish Locations: Parking is available near the fish hatchery, at the end of Capilano Park Road. Meet under the open shelter near the parking lot. Please note this is a different starting location than the usual parking lot at the dam.
