SFU sprint special Wednesday Evening Training
August 27th 2014 6:30pm
Organizer: Adam Woods (Event Director)
Primary Organizers:
Event Director/Course Planner: Adam Woods , Membership/Registrar: Joanne Woods , Trainer: Stan Woods
Description:
This weeks WET will feature sprints through the multi-leveled maze of the SFU campus.
There will be 4 courses: Easy, Intermediate, Hard and Elite.
All courses are 1.6-1.8 km straight line distance. Expected winning time (for the fastest runners) is 13 min for Hard and 15 min for Elite. Less speedy orienteerers can expect 20 min runs. There will be separate control descriptions for the Hard and Elite courses. Bring your control description holders, (magnifiers are also a good idea for those with older eyes).
Courses:
Two course combos will be offered. The Easy + Intermediate course combo avoids the most complex areas of terrain, and is appropriate for families.
The other combo of Hard + Elite is for runners interested in exploring the most exciting and unique parts of the SFU map. The Hard showcases some interesting areas and introduces runners to light grey colored areas. The Elite course is a fiendishly complex, trap filled course through the most confusing areas of the map.
Schedule
6:15 Introduction to Orienteering for Beginners
6:30 Starts begin for both courses
8:00 Course Closure, participants must report to the Finish by Course Closure Time.
Safety Precautions:
There is major road construction going on at SFU. However, the courses will stay away from any ongoing construction.
Parking/Start/Finish Locations:
The Start/Finish is in the grass field at the location show on the map.
I suggest driving up University Drive E, taking the 2nd left up Tower Rd and parking in the lots South East of the start/finish location.
Post-Event Dining:
TBA
