This WET will be organized at Robert Burnaby Park in BBY. The registration, start and finish will be right next to the pool area in the parking lot. Please, see map and location. Rain cover/ shelter is avail. at this location. I am aiming at an early start at 6.30 pm due to the difficulty of the longer course, but 6.45 pm start time is still ok for those who cannot make it till 6.30. Dark sets in around 8.30 so I designate this time as course closure time. Please bring your head light, and whistle..... just in case.
Expect lots of mud, bush and undergrowth. Dress Properly, use proper shoes, the steeper trails are very slippery. The long course will be technically challenging.
There will be no reflective stickers on flags.
Both courses are touching city areas with car traffic. Please behave appropietly, yield cars at all times. Stay on the shoulder of the roads.
Please sign up till Wednesday 10 am. so, I can print enough maps.
Introduction to Orienteering for Beginners by Caren L.
Starts begin 6.30 pm. 6.45 is still OK to start.
Course Closure is at 8.30, participants must report to the Finish by Course Closure Time. Please, bring your head, pocket light. Dark sets in around at 8.30. pm.
Two courses will be offered, one of which is easier/shorter depending on terrain and suitable for beginners/families. The second of which is Longer/Harder depending on terrain. The long course will be difficult, with lots of mud, creek crossings and occaisonal thick bush/ undergrowth. Some climbing involved. Short course is more friendly. One can expect mud and wet conditions on trails. No bushwacking.
Please, use common sens, when run on city roads. Both, courses will touch ashphalt roads with car traffic.
There are plenty of parkin avail next to the pool area. (Few yards from start and finish)
Without volunteers, these events cannot take place. A hearty thanks to all those helping put this event on. If you would like to volunteer/help at upcoming WETs/WJRs or would like to organize a WET please let us know.
