Level 100

Organizers: Meghan Rance (Event Director), Alison Schoenhardt (Event Director)

Saturday, March 2 10-1pm Firefighter's Social and Athletic Club - 6515 Bonsor Ave, Burnaby (near Metrotown)

The Canadian orienteering community has been waiting many years for Orienteering Canada's new officials' certification program. Be one of the first people in the country to take the updated program. The goal of the officials' program is to teach best practices for course planning and event direction to orienteering officials across the country.

Who should take this course?

If you have never planned a WET event and would like to try planning one or if you have planned several WETs but want to find out how to make your WET's even better come and join us.

Everyone is welcome! Eventually, we hope that all volunteers organizing WET's will have Level 100 certification

What will I learn?

This course is designed to teach the basic principles of organization and course planning for a WET level event. You will learn how to get the map you need, what software to use to plan your course, how to plan your course, how to update the website and email list and much more!

To be considered as a candidate for the 100 Level Officials’ course, the
candidate must meet the following pre-requisites:
• Participated in at least five C events (WET)
• Participated in at least two Canada Cup or B events (Why Just Run)

To become a certified 100 level official, the candidate must complete the
following requirements:
• Attend all sessions of the 100 level course
• Achieve a score ≥ 80% on the 100 level exam
• Plan a beginner course and an intermediate course complying to C event
standards
• Act as an event director and course planner for a C event

If you have any questions don't hestitate to contact me.

The class is free but please register in advance so that we know how many materials to produce.

Parking Information!

Just a heads up that you can park for free tomorrow in the Metrotown Mall parkade. There is an entrance on the curve where Bonsor and Bennett meet. The first and third floors of the parkade have an exit directly to the Firefighters Club (so I'm told...).
