Queen Elizabeth Park Why Just Run
February 10th 2013 9:00am
Organizers: Meghan Rance (Event Director), John Rance (Event Director)
Map: Queen Elizabeth Park
As part of the 8th Vancouver Sprint Camp, this Why Just Run will look a little different. We're offering 2 back to back sprint races Queen Elizabeth Park. The set-up race will begin at 10 am. Once everybody is back, we will calculate the 20 fastest runners for the chase start. The person with the fastest time on the set-up course will start first and all the remaining runners will have to wait the amount of time they are behind to start. The first person across the finish line wins. Everyone who is not in the chase start will be allowed to start earlier so that they can come back and watch the chase. Because we have many top orienteers from out of town and our own club coming to sprint camp it should be very exciting. Make sure you stick around to watch all the action!
Three levels of courses will be offered at the Queen Elizabeth event. Each level will have a set-up course and a chase course but only the Elite course will have a chase start for the fastest runners.
Intermediate- Appropriate for new orienteers and families
Expert- Same technical difficulty as the Elite course but slightly shorter. Please sign up for this course if you orienteer at a leisurely pace. This will allow us to shrink the time it takes to start everybody by spreading them out onto different courses.
Elite- Technically difficult. The winning time for each course should be around 15 minutes for the fastest runners
You do not need to register online if you have registered for Sprint Camp. If you have not registered for Sprint Camp and would like to attend the Sunday Why Just Run, please sign up online.
We will be meeting in the open field to the south east of the 33rd Ave park entrance.
