Map: BCIT

Please sign up by Tuesday night (at Midnight) so that we can print enough maps.

The BCIT map is at the sprint map standard of 1:4000 scale. There are many areas with canopies, mapped with the 'Canopy' symbol 522 (light grey colour). There are also some areas passable at two levels (mapped with symbol 512.3) with the entrance to the lower level mapped with the tunnel entrance symbol (512.1). These multi-level areas on the map have been updated to the most recent Sprint Map standards. Information on mapping of multi level areas will be available at the event. Most of the BCIT map is now accessible as the Tall Timber Student Housing building was recently completed and provides some newly mapped area.

Bring your Control Description holders as separate control descriptions will be available for the Loop courses. Control descriptions will also be printed on the maps.

Registration/Start location is under cover of a canopy at the North-West corner of BCIT building SW1 (see Map below). There are bus stops on Willingdon Avenue just west of the registration/start location.

Parking: There is a drop off area near the registration. There is above-ground and covered pay parking nearby.

Please register for one of three courses (Beginner, Loops, or Loops with Artificial Barriers):

Beginner: Course suitable for beginners. Please arrive early for instruction. Shortest course distance is about 2.7 km, with about 15 controls.

Loops Do 1, 2 or 3 loops. Loop 1 is about 2.46 km via the shortest route, Loop 2 is about 4.1 km and Loop 3 is about 3.5 km. The loop courses will be technically difficult sprint orienteering with some complex route choices. These courses will have NO artificial barriers making the courses and map easier to read.

Loops with Artificial Barriers These courses will have Artificial Barriers making the courses and map harder to read and the orienteering more complex. Do 1, 2 or 3 loops. Loop 1 is about 2.67 km via the shortest route, Loop 2 is about 4.25 km and Loop 3 is about 3.62 km.
