Updates

We can no longer accommodate any entries, for any of the races. We apologise for the inconvenience

Sprint Camp returns for its 20th edition! Sprint Camp is a full weekend of sprint races and trainings that we've been hosting since 2006. This year it will consist of:

  • Sprint World Ranking Event
  • Knockout Sprint World Ranking Event
  • A relay race
  • 2 training sessions
  • A Saturday night banquet with a presentation and some games

We are excited to bring several new areas to life, with some of our best urban terrain in recent years of Sprint Camp.

What course should I enter?

We offer two entry classes - "Elite" and "Expert".

  • Runners in the elite category will be competing for a prize purse of $1150 (top 5 men and top 5 women get payouts). Most courses will be 3-3.5km long, with expected winning times of 12-15 minutes.
  • Runners in the expert category will be competing for glory (and some delicious goods). These courses are the same navigational difficulty as the elite courses, but a bit shorter.
    • Runners in the expert category will also have the option to opt in or out of the Knockout Sprint. Those who opt in are required to provide their IOF ID. Those who opt out will still be able to race on the same courses, but with an individual format
  • We will make sure everyone will get to run consolation rounds for the KO Sprint

The weekend runs to a tight schedule - please only enter the elite category if you are usually capable of completing a sprint orienteering course in under 20 minutes.

Unfortunately Sprint Camp is not suitable for complete newcomers to orienteering. However, if you're able to get around the Wednesday Evening Training courses without too much drama, you should be fine with the expert courses! We do plan on having a WJR event at UBC on Sunday alongside the Sprint Camp festivities, which will be beginner friendly. More details to come in the coming weeks.

Registration

Early registration deadline is Feb 28. See who's coming

Most people register for the full weekend, but we do accommodate single-day registrations for just the Saturday or Sunday.

Cost for the full weekend of races is $140 until 28 February 2026. Half price for juniors. Half price if you're only attending one day. Costs for late registration will go up to $170, with the final deadline being 7 March 2026

Bulletin

An updated version of Bulletin 2 is available (9 March). Please see https://drive.google.com/file/d/1pNIIYsExP4q0Rw7LLUC1vsDMe2zSzvy5/view?usp=drivesdk

Banquet

We are very happy to announce that we will have Canadian orienteering legend Ted de St. Croix as our speaker for the banquet! To this day, Ted holds the record for Canada’s best ever performance by a male at the World Orienteering Championships. Ted placed 10th at the World Orienteering Championships in Australia in 1985. Ted currently works as a running coach in Ocean Athletics, and is more than familiar with athlete development in both athletics and orienteering.

The banquet will take place at the Poirier Sport & Leisure Complex, with showers and pool facilities available.
