Description

This week's WET will feature a Memory-O format, for those looking for an extra mental challenge. The course will be a regular point-to-point, but everyone will only receive a blank map of the area with nothing marked except the locations of the master maps. Every time you arrive at a master map you'll have to plan, and memorize, your route to the next few controls. If you forget, you'll have to run back to your closest master map and try again! Master maps can be visited an unlimited number of times, but please don't move/run off with them, and be conscious of others that may be waiting for their turn to use the map.

If that doesn't sound appealing to you (or if this is your first time orienteering!), there will also be a "Regular-O" which will be the same course as the Memory-O, but you'll get to run with the master maps. Only recommended if you're extremely lazy and/or anti-fun.

Schedule

6:15pm Introduction to Orienteering for Beginners

6:30pm Starts

8pm Course Closure, participants must report to the Finish before leaving.

Safety Precautions

Always use good judgement and common sense. Carry a whistle at all times. Headlamps are essential to see and be seen. Take care when crossing roads and parking lots. Watch out for other runners, cyclists, and trail/sidewalk users.

Parking/Start Location

Start/finish will be at the covered area at Sir Wilfrid Laurier Elementary School (marked on the map on the event page). There should be plenty of street parking on Laurel Street.

Post-Event Dining

TBD
