Oak Park Wednesday Evening Training
February 17th 2016 6:30pm - 8:00pm
Organizer: Chris Benn (Event Director)
Map: Oak Park
Description
Please meet at the corner of Laurel St and West 59th Ave for this week's WET. The entranceway to the school will provide some shelter if it is raining. Note that Langara Gardens in the NE part of the map is out of bounds and will be marked as such (a pity since this would have been a great area to have a few controls). The expert course will pass through the grounds of the George Pearson Centre so please be respectful of anyone walking around.
Schedule
6:15pm Introduction to Orienteering for Beginners
6:30pm Starts
8pm Course Closure, participants must report to the Finish before leaving.
Courses
Expert course will be a point to point course
Beginner - a shorter and more straightforward version of the expert course.
Safety Precautions
A flashlight or headlamp is essential. Take extra care when crossing roads. Please carry a GVOC whistle. We sell them at every event for $1 - what a bargain!
Parking/Start/Finish Locations
There should be a reasonable amount of street parking on Laurel St very close to the start. The closest skytrain station is Langara-49th Ave and then about a 10 minute walk.
