Thank you all for coming and indulging this silly idea for a WET! The concept was inspired by a rogaine a friend attended in Russia, where the planner took to the skies in a microlight to photograph the area! I don't think I'll be using one of those, but I might try a drone next time. You can see the map for the crazy Russian rogaine event here - you were let off lightly this evening...

Description

This week's WET is on a brand new map that's never been used before, and features a special phot-O training exercise!

The beginner course is a standard point-to-point course, which is perfect for newcomers to the sport. If you master this course, then you're more than welcome to try the more advanced training exercise too.

The phot-O challenge is a fun training exercise in which the course is not drawn on your map! Instead, you will be shown photographs of the control locations, and you have to work out where that location is on the map. Make sure to use both foreground and background features to ensure you're going to go to the right place! Mark the controls on your map, then head out to find them. There will be 4 loops in total, each of 4 controls - come back to the start after you've completed each loop, and move on to the next one. For added competition, we will do "mini mass starts" of 4 people at once, with each person starting on a different loop.

The intermediate course is like the phot-O challenge, except you are shown very small excerpts of the map instead of photos. You have to match up the small excerpt to the location on the full map, then again visit the 4 controls in each loop in any order.
