Description
Schedule:
6:30 pm - Groups can start. This is self-timed, but please report to the finish when you're done so I don't come looking for you...
8:00 pm - all participants must report back to the finish by 8pm. This is not optional!
Courses:
O-tervals = orienteering intervals. This training is all about fast running and decision making. There are 3 courses of 5 sets of 3-5 controls. Find 2 friends of roughly the same speed. Go to the first start triangle and mass start with your friends. Run your 3-5 controls, then wait at the finish for your friends. Walk/jog together to the next start triangle and repeat!
Each of the courses has a slightly different set of controls, so read your map carefully. Each set is 500-800(ish) metres, so run as hard as you can. Practice making quick route choice decisions at speed. Read your controls carefully, as your friends may have controls close by on a different feature. There will be no control descriptions.
There is also a point to point course suitable for beginners and families.
Sign up by Tuesday PM to ensure you get a map.
Safety Precautions: There is a railway track running through the park, which is marked on the map. ONLY cross at marked crossing points. DO NOT run along the tracks. DO NOT try to outrun any train.
Parking/Start/Finish Locations: Picnic shelter marked on the map below. There is a parking lot just to the north of the picnic shelter.
Post-Event Dining: Somewhere yummy, no doubt!
Acknowledgements: Without volunteers, these events cannot take place. A hearty thanks to all those helping put this event on. If you would like to volunteer/help at upcoming WETs/WJRs or would like to organize a WET please let us know.
