Experience something new - WET and PUNCH-DRUNK! There will be a standard pin-flagged point-to-point course of 2-3 km, as well as a chance to practice your SI punching technique. You might have noticed how smoothly and quickly the elite runners move through an SI station in a race; most of us have trouble consistently hitting the SI unit correctly and moving away in the right direction. Think of the seconds you can be losing at each control!! Well, here is your opportunity to learn how to do it better! Once you have completed the pin flag course (or whenever you want, for that matter), you have the opportunity to run a very short ten-control course with SI timing. It will take you only 3-4 minutes to complete one cycle, and then you can print out your splits.. Please bring your own SI stick; we might or might not have club SI sticks for rent (depending on GVOC's other plans) but you can always borrow someone else's stick for a run through the Punch-Drunk course. Do it as often as you like and see if you can improve your time (or beat the Elite ;-) We will be meeting at the giant flagpole near the water at the N edge of Vanier Point, adjacent to the two parking lots. Expect pay parking to be in force; expect it to be showering; expect it to be fun!
