Map: Watershed Park

Watershed Park is a complicated set of trail networks in Delta which makes for challenging map reading and navigation. We are offering this course this week as a change from the urban races. There is no beginner course - just the one long course offering lots of forest training opportunities. Take this course as a learning opportunity and feel free to skip controls if necessary. It should take about 60 to 90 minutes to complete depending on your level of experience. Also if you are using MapRunF the option to turn on tracking and location display has been enabled. Be sure to do this in the "Options and Settings" before passing through the start. This really helps if you become "locationally challenged".

Parking is available on Pinewood Drive (near Pinewood elementary, see map). The start and finish are near the scout camp in the middle of Watershed park. Follow the trail from the Pinewood Drive park entrance to the scout camp. It is a 600m walk. There is also a parking lot on Kittson Parkway/64th Ave and again take the trail into the scout camp.

Because our insurance policy requires that everyone who participates in a GVOC event be a member of the club, please email gvoc.membership@gmail.com for a pdf copy of the event map and the password for this event.

Remember that these events are to be run/walked individually, obeying all the social distancing recommendations currently in place. However, for your personal safety please let somebody know where you are, and what you are doing. These are not sanctioned events; we don't retain any liability for participants. This is a do-at-your-own-risk, training suggestion.

MapRunF

The Watershed Park course can be accessed in the MapRunF app under "Select an Event > Canada > British Columbia > Vancouver ". For instructions on setting up the phone app, see the pdf document "How to setup and run MapRunF". Note that if you have an android phone that puts the GPS into sleep mode which causes issues when attempting to use it for this activity, there is another app called GPS Connected which can also be downloaded and used to lock the GPS to the satellites. Remember to unlock it when you have finished the course.
