Description

Hi everyone!

This week we will have our last WET of this month, and it will be the last practice before the championships for those heading north. This time we will use again the super fun training/relay maps used in sprint camp, which are great for practicing quick changes in direction and stay in close contact with the map. For those who finish, there will be also extra maps to practice a bit more and get a longer run.

The terrain is a friendly park with going through mostly grass and some paved areas, and the weather is also looking warm and sunny, perfect for a nice orienteering evening!

Please register by Wednesday at noon to make sure we have enough maps for everyone.

Schedule

6:15pm Introduction to Orienteering for Beginners

6:30pm Starts

8pm Course Closure, participants must report to the Finish before leaving.

Courses

Sprint course: It's a fun run in the park, lots of turns and butterflies.

Sprint relay: 4 loops around the park (that could be run be 2 people, or just one), be careful to actually get to the control you aim for. Many other ones out there can misguide you.

Safety Precautions

Always use good judgement and common sense. Carry a whistle at all times. Headlamps are essential to see and be seen. Take care when crossing roads and parking lots. Watch out for other runners, cyclists, and trail/sidewalk users.

Parking/Start Location

There is parking close to the start around Confederation Park Elementary.
