Map: Granville Loop

Description

This week's event will feature a small but fun urban map! If you're going to Sprint Camp, then this will be good practice. Participants should try to focus on reading ahead and being prepared to head off in the correct direction.

Schedule

6:15pm Introduction to Orienteering for Beginners

6:30pm Starts

8pm Course Closure, participants must report to the Finish before leaving.

Courses

Three loops are offered. The first loop will be an easy, beginner friendly option. The second and third loops are more technical and tricky. Beginners may wish to start with the first loop and then try the second and third if they want. Experienced orienteers may want to just do the 2nd and 3rd loops, or could include the beginner loop to warm up.

Safety Precautions

Always use good judgement and common sense. Carry a whistle at all times. Headlamps are essential to see and be seen. Take care when crossing roads and parking lots. Watch out for other runners, cyclists, and trail/sidewalk users.

Parking/Start Location:
We will begin UNDERNEATH the Granville Street overpass on 4th. This way we'll be sheltered from the rain. This means you will need to find parking somewhere north of West 4th. There is mostly metered parking in the area but you may be able to find a street without. Transit is also a good option.

Post-Event Dining

TBD
