Description

Starts and finishes at Champlain Heights Community Centre and features the intricate terrain of Everett Crowley Park, Captain Cook Park and Sparwood Park, all interconnected by the Douglas Fir trail.

The course comprises of a few warm up controls, leading into a large Score-O section and finishing with a loop of 5 controls. The Score-O sections contains about 20 controls which may be completed in any order - skipping any 2. You choose your route around the controls and you choose which 2 controls to skip.

If weather permits, there will be a mass start at 6:45pm. For walkers/runners who want to start earlier or later, individual starts are available.

Afterwards we will head over to the Village Pub on the other side of the parking lot for a bit to eat!

6:30pm Introduction to Orienteering for Beginners

6:45pm MASS START! SUPER FUN!

8pm Course Closure, participants must report to the Finish before going to the pub.

Courses:

Two courses will be offered, one of which is Shorter/Easier depending on terrain, and is appropriate for families.

The other course is Longer/Harder depending on terrain.

Safety Precautions:

Take care when crossing roads.

Parking/Start/Finish Locations:

West end of the parking lot at Champlain Heights Community Centre (free parking).

Transit: 

On the 26 bus route which runs between Joyce-Collingwood and 29th Ave Skytrain stations - runs every 15 minutes and takes 15 minutes from either station. Also nearby to route 49 which runs between Dunbar Loop and Metrotown.

Post-Event Dining:

We usually head over to the 'Village Pub' just by the parking lot for a bite to eat afterwards.
