Map: False Creek

Thanks to Everyone that came yesterday night! You did a great job redrawing the False Creek Map (some showed more artistic skills than others :))! Thanks to our (we-miss-you) Louise for her OCAD help with the almost-blank map! We will upload maps tomorrow, if some of you want to upload their drawings, let us know!

Hi Everyone,

Please Join us for the next WET that will take place on the narrow-but-challenging sprint map of False Creek/Granville Island.

Please be aware that this is a residential area so do not step on people properties. Also, if it is a nice day, the seawall will be busy, so control your speed to avoid collisions ;)

Schedule

6:30 Introduction to Orienteering for Beginners

6:30 Starts begin

8:00 Course Closure, participants must report to the Finish by Course Closure Time.

Courses:

Gilles and I will be offering two courses:

- A classic point-to-point race of about 2,5km

technical exercise called "Pic-O" (unofficial name that could be Pictionary-O or Picasso-O). The idea is to practice your simplification skills.

At the start, you get a (almost) blank map without controls. After your start and while the time is running, you are allowed to draw both the controls and the features from the MASTER map. The MASTER map is only available at the start. You have to find the right balance between drawing the sufficient amount of features to get you through the whole race and not losing too much time drawing an Art masterpiece. Please bring your own pen/brush!

Parking/Start/Finish Locations:

We will meet at the covered area on granville island next to the Kids water playground (see following Map)

Post-Event Dining:

Cat Social House is just next to the Start/Finish and has good burgers!
