Description

Please, bring your HEADLAMP!!!! you will need it for the last part of the course, if it is cloudy you may need it for most of it.

Confederation Park offers nice open terrain and some forest sections to enjoy a diverse course. The forest will be the last part of it, so it probably will be too dark to go out there with out a light.

There will be 3 courses: beginner (2 km) mostly in the park, a long course (about 5km) and a middle course (3.5km which is basically an abbreviated version of the long course).

Schedule

6:15 pm Introduction to Orienteering for Beginners

6:30 pm Starts begin

8:00 pm Course Closure, participants must report to the Finish by Course Closure Time.

Courses:

Three courses will be offered, one of which is easier/shorter depending on terrain and suitable for beginners/families. The other two are 5 km and 3.5 km long, with some sections which need some bushwalking or involve harder terrain.

Safety Precautions:

Please, bring your HEADLAMP!!!! you will need it.

Both long and middle courses will go in to the trails, that have few and generally short blackberry branches (below the knee level), so please be prepared to enjoy more the walk/run.

Parking/Start/Finish Locations:

We'll meet in the shelter to the west of Confederation Park Elementary School, which will be also the finish. There are parking lots within the park along Beta Avenue (closest to start), Willingdon and Albert St.
